Pet Policy

Montana law does not classify dogs as dangerous based solely on breed. However, Downing Mountain Lodge is a privately owned vacation rental and reserves the right to restrict dogs based on safety, guest comfort, wildlife concerns, property protection, and insurance requirements.

Dogs will not be accepted if they have:

• A known history of biting or attacking a person or another animal.

• A history of aggressive, threatening, or uncontrolled behavior.

• Been declared dangerous, vicious, or potentially dangerous by any governmental agency or court.

• Previously caused property damage at a vacation rental or lodging property.

For insurance and liability reasons, Downing Mountain Lodge may decline the following breeds or mixes, including but not limited to:

• American Pit Bull Terrier

• American Staffordshire Terrier

• Staffordshire Bull Terrier

• American Bulldog

• Rottweiler

• Doberman Pinscher

• German Shepherd

• Akita

• Chow Chow

• Presa Canario

• Cane Corso

• Bullmastiff

• Mastiff (all varieties)

• Dogo Argentino

• Fila Brasileiro

• Wolf or Wolf Hybrid

• Alaskan Malamute

• Siberian Husky

Breed approval remains at the sole discretion of Downing Mountain Lodge and may change if required by our insurance carrier.
