For the ultimate in powder skiing come visit us for backcountry skiing from January through April. Whitewater boating, rock climbing, mountain biking all start to be good in the spring in addition to spring skiing. For hang gliders there are several launches in the Valley and in the Missoula Area. And for those committed fishermen angling is quite good on the nearby Bitterroot River with many resources for the float fisherman and wading too. Autumn brings cooling weather and stable air, with the promise of bugling an elk during the fall rut or watching deer from your favorite stand. After the hunt ends, the powder rolls in again with storm after storm pummeling the Bitterroot Range with feet of high quality and prodigious snows. Bring your fat skis then.
